A registered nurse and the breadwinner of the house, she wishes dearly for a change in her life. Kat Gardener (Jaime Ray Newman) is the mother of five and is married to her high school sweetheart, beer-loving Raymond (Jon Bernthal). It works and she even lands a guy she’s fancied for a long time, Gazette photographer Will St. Darryl helps her get over these problems by telling her that she just needs to look people in the eye and tell them what she wants. Joanna Frankel (Lindsay Price) is a newspaper reporter for the Eastwick Gazette who’s also very shy and awkward. Things start to change however when Darryl unleashes her power to see into the future. All of this doesn’t exactly endear her to her neighbors. Living with her teenage daughter, Mia (Ashley Benson), Roxie has a much younger boyfriend and persistent money problems. Roxie Torcoletti (Rebecca Romijn) is an artistic free-spirited widow who lives by her own rules. Darryl unleashes supernatural powers from within them, igniting their hearts’ desires, and opening more of a Pandora’s Box than even he could have expected. The ladies have a hard time resisting his wealth, charisma, and bad boy sex appeal. Soon afterward, a very wealthy and mysterious man named Darryl Van Horne (Paul Gross) moves to the area and befriends the three women. As its described on the ABC-TV publicity site, “Three very different women find themselves drawn together by a mysterious man who unleashes unique powers in each of them, and this small New England town will never be the same.”Įastwick stars Rebecca Romijn ( Ugly Betty, X-Men) as the sassy and somewhat flakey head witch, Roxie Torcoletti, who’s the artist Lindsay Price ( Lipstick Jungle) as Joanna Frankel, an uptight local reporter and Jamie Ray Newman ( Eureka) as easy-going Kat Gardener, a mother of five. EST, will be a contemporary fantasy-drama with light overtones in the mold of Desperate Housewives. Updike’s novel was, of course, set in the Vietnam War era, but the TV series, which is scheduled to air on Wednesday evenings at 10 p.m. There are other changes, including the era and names of characters. The continuing plot of this fall’s ABC-TV series will apparently come closer to the 1987 supernatural film. Now Eastwick is coming to TV again, this time “loosely” based on John Updike’s novel and the movie The Witches of Eastwick. Then came the hour-long series Eastwick ten years later, with Desperate Housewives’ star Marcia Cross playing Jane in a short-lived Fox series that was written by Jon Cowan and Robert L. that was based on The Witches of Eastwick, but it never went anywhere. Way back in 1992, Carlton Cuse and Jeffrey Boam wrote a pilot for Warner Bros. Maybe the third time will be the charm, at least as far as television adaptations go. ![]()
